Table 5: Academic performance of primary school pupils in English Language in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State
As shown on table 5, the mean score of primary school pupils in English Language in Ilorin West Local Governemnt Area of Kwara State is 57.2. This score show that primary school pupils in English Language in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State are above average.
Hypotheses Testing
Three null hypotheses were formulated in this study and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Hypothesis one was tested using t-test while hypotheses two and three were tested using ANOVA statistical analysis.
HO1: There is no significant difference in the academic performance of primary school pupils in English Language in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State on the basis of parent’s gender.
Hypothesis one (HO1) was tested using T-test statistics as shown in Table 6.

As shown in table 6; the P-value: 0.860 is greater than sig value: 0.05 and so the decision is not to reject HO1. This means that there is no significant difference in the academic performance of primary school pupils in English Language in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State on the basis of Parent’s Gender
HO2: There is no significant difference in the academic performance of primary school pupils in English Language in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State on the basis of parent’s academic qualification.
Hypothesis two (HO2) was tested using Analysis of Variance statistics as shown in Table 7.
