    • 2.9     Crop Protection Equipment
Crop protection equipments can be refer to as devices which are designed for purposes of preventing planted crops from destructive agents such as weeds, diseases, insect, pest e.t.c. on a farmland or harvested crops in stored areas.
The chief crop protection operations are the application of herbicides to educe the competition from weeds, protective fungicides ‘to minimize the effects of fungus diseases; insecticides to control various kinds of insect pests and hormones to regulate crop growth. In addition, spraying is employed for the application of micro-nutrients such as managers or boron, for burning of excessive flag on cereal crops in order to reduce the changer of lodging.
2.10     Classification of Crop Protection Equipment
Crop protection equipment can majorly be classified into two
          Sprayer
          Dusters
      2.10.1    Dusters
A duster can either be normally operated on powered. The power may be shoulder mounted or belly mounted while it is operated the prevailing wind donation should be used to carry out the dust to the target. Dusters are of different types e.g Air planer duster e.t.c.
A duster companies of some components which include.
A hopper for storing the chemical in dust form
An agitator which is usually provided within the hopper to keep the dust moving freely and prevent it caking
A metering machine which is mostly an adjustable orifice that allows the discharge rate to be varied e.t.c.
      2.10.2    Sprayers
A sprayer is a machine or device designed and make for application of liquid chemicals (e.g insecticides, pesticides, fertilizers e.t.c.) in fire and smooth spray.
The spray materials can be in the form of the following
Solution: The homogeneous mixture of two or more substances of similar molecular structure. Water is a common solvent, also oil.
Suspension: Two phase system consisting of very small solid particle distributed in liquid dispersion medium. The active material is present in solid particles dispersed in oil or water.
Emulsion: Solid particles solved in organic solvent capable of further dilute in water. Requirement of emulsion include
          Sufficient stability after dillusion
High oil content but suitable for measuring and mixing
          Not corrosive to strange container
      2.11    Classification of Sprayer
Sprayer is being classified into based on the following:
          Method of droplet
          Hydraulic (liquid) Energy Sprayer
          Gasoline Energy Sprayer
          Centrifugal Energy Sprayer
          Kinetic Energy Sprayer
          Thermal Energy Sprayer
          According to source of power
          Manually Operated e.g Knapsack Sprayers
Power Operated – Auxiliary engine, hydraulic motor PTO of tractor and electric motor e.g (Boom Sprayer)
          Mode of carrying
          Hand held
          Knapsack (back carry)
          Front carry
          Shoulder shay
          Barrow
          Trailed tractor
          Self propelled
          Vehicle
          Air craft mounted
          Volumetric Capacity
          Ultral-low volume (U-ULV) – Less Il/ha
          Ultral-low volume (ULV) – 1- 5 L/ha
          Low volume (LV) – 5-50 L/ha
          Medium Volume (MV) 50 – 250 L/ha
          High volume (HV) – 250 L/ha
          Purpose of utilization
          Crop sprayer
          Orchad sprayer
          Garden sprayer
          System of delivery
          Hydraulic
          Hydro preumatic
          Blower sprayer (air carried system)
          Acrosol generator

CHAPTER ONE - [ Total Page(s): 2 ]CHAPTER ONEINTRODUCTION1.1    Background to the study Sprayers are devices that are specially designed to spray liquid quickly and easily. They come in a number of different varieties. A sprayer is used to cover large area such as lawns quickly and easily. A boom sprayer of this type is typically used for spraying chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides.Along with proper plant selection and cure, controlling pests in lawn or garden is an important par ... CHAPTER THREE - [ Total Page(s): 2 ]PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE(REGULATOR); This is a device or mechanism that maintain any pre-set pressure by by-passing some of the liquid back to the tank i.e it serves as safety device in automatically unloading the excessive pressure. (It is a means of adjusting the pressure as required for the job).PRESSURE GUAGE; This is a component pant of the sprayer that always indicate the actual pressure at which the sprayer is working. If properly calibrated, it provides guide to the operator in ... Continue reading---
