    • The Tank
It acts as a medium for strong spraying materials. This can be made of steel, satisfactory is properly galvanized or otherwise treated after fabrication to prevent erosion. Plastic materials are also used on account of freedom from corrosion and ease of molding into smooth shapes which avoid the difficulty of agitating in recesses and sharp corners.
Rand –bottom tanks are best suited to use of a horizontal mechanical gaiter however, hydraulic agitation is preferred by many manufacture good hydraulic mixing is achieved if a tank with a curved bottom s used, and the pipe runs horizontally near the bottom
      Pump
This is a device capable of developing required pressure in the sprayer system for many spraying jobs. Different kinds of pump are employed in spraying machines which include diaphragm pumps, medium pressure centrifugal pumps, low-pressure ratary pumps of various types clear pumps and High pressures and medium pressure piston pump.
      Fitters /Strainer
These are screening devices for separation. It is found in the suction line between the tank and the pump to separate and remove foreign materials which might affect operation of other functioning parts.
They are usually found in the sediment bowl and can be easily removed for cleaning. It should be replaced after cleaning fitter is wed for final separation. It is finer than strainer and is usually found between the tank-pump-nozzles. It is also used in nozzle orifice for separating dirt.
      Pressure Regulators
It is a device or mechanization that minimum any pre-set pressure by passing some of the liquid back to the tank i.e it sense as a safety device in automatically unloading the excessive pressure.
It is also means for adjusting the pressure as required for the job.
      Pressure gauge
It provides guide to the operator in proper adjusting of the pressure for each spraying job. It is usually connected on the discharge line.
      Distributing systems
It is a convectional hand gun which contain one or more nozzle it contain a fast acting control values which are serve as a cut off and means of adjusting the spraying pattern. Example is a hand held spraying gun in knapsack sprayers.
      Control values
It is used for quick flow control of any section or combination of sections of the boom nozzles.
Depending on the mode of operation; there are two types of nozzles used on sprayer. These are the said or pressure jet nozzles and the other ones are the air atomizers. In solid nozzles, the liquid is atomized by the nozzle under hydraulic pressure where as in the case of air atomizers, the fluid is broken into fine particles either under hydraulic pressure or jointly under hydraulic pressure and on air stream. Energy of the air from the blower helps in sending the droplets to the target. The principals parts of the nozzles are the body, wash, disk and cap. The shut off may be provided I the supply line or in the nozzle itself. The value is used to impart the whirling motion to the liquid as it flows at high velocity through the value into the eddy chamber of the nozzle body.
The hole at the centre of the nozzle disk results in a hollow cone spray. If there is a hole through the centre of the value, a solid cone of spray is provided. With increase of pressure, the dispersion of droplets increase. The higher is pressure, the smaller the average diameter of the droplets.

CHAPTER ONE - [ Total Page(s): 2 ]CHAPTER ONEINTRODUCTION1.1    Background to the study Sprayers are devices that are specially designed to spray liquid quickly and easily. They come in a number of different varieties. A sprayer is used to cover large area such as lawns quickly and easily. A boom sprayer of this type is typically used for spraying chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides.Along with proper plant selection and cure, controlling pests in lawn or garden is an important par ...
