3.0.1 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter describes the approach adopted in this study as itemized below: i Design of the study

3.1.1 DESIGN OF THE STUDY
The research design adopted for the study was the survey method. The survey instrument was deemed the most appropriate for gathering the data for the study from construction professionals; who are more directly involved with health, safety and accident matters on construction sites.
3.1.2 AREA OF THE STUDY
The study was carried out in Anambra State geographical area, using Awka and Onitsha as representative Urban towns for the case study; due to lack of funds and time containts for the submission of the project.
3.1.3 POPULATION OF THE STUDY
The population of the study was large and consisted mostly of big construction firms in Anambra State, especially Awka and Onitsha; that have had more than 5 years of active construction engagements.
3.1.4 SAMPLE AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
Due to the nature of the subject matter, which cuts across board in the construction industry, the Simple random Sampling technique was adopted in selecting representative construction firms for the study.
10 reputable construction firms, of above 5 years continuous construction engagements that work with registered professionals were selected for the study. 5 from Awka and 5 from Onitsha as listed below:
