4.3 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
The average density of the cubes produced without reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 2:1:1 is 706.66kg/m3 while the average density of cubes produced with processed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 2:1:1:1 is 810.67kg/m3. The average density of the cubes produced without reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 1:1:1 is 437.33kg/m3 while the average density of cubes produced with reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 1:1:1:1 is 645.33kg/m3.
The average water absorption rate of cube produced without reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 2:1:1 is 19.3% while the average water absorption rate of cubes produced with reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 2:1:1:1 is 20.46%. The average water absorption rate of cubes produced without reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 1:1:1 is 18.2% while the average water absorption rate of cubes produced with reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 1:1:1:1 is 19.56%.
The average compressive strength of cubes produced without reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 2:1:1 is 17.27N/mm2 while the average compressive strength of cubes produced with reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 2:1:1:1 is 12.29N/mm2. The average compressive strength of cubes produced without reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 1:1:1 is 11.27N/mm2 while the average compressive strength of cubes produced with reprocessed pure water sachets and having a mix ratio of 1:1:1:1 is 10.33N/mm2.
The average value of compressive strength show that the cubes without reprocessed “pure water sachet†gave a higher average compressive strength than those with reprocessed pure water sachet. It can also be seen that wood wool cubes cast with ratio of 2:1:1:1 and 2:1:1 gave a higher average water absorption percentage than 1:1:1:1 and 1:1:1. It was also observed during the process of casting of the cubes that it is only when the wood strands were broken down to bits that it can mix properly with the cement paste.
