Bamboo Leaf Ash As A Partial Replacement Of Cement In Concrete
-

-
4.5 Discussion of Result
Table 4.1 shows the slump test result that the degree of workable of bamboo leaf ash in concrete, can be observed that the slump value decreased with increase in bamboo leaf Ash percentage. This implies in table 4.1 that the concrete become less workable (stiff) as the bamboo leaf Ash content increased. It is observed from table 4.13 that compressive strength decreases with increase in percent of bamboo leaf ash. The compressive strength of BLAsh 5, BLAsh 10, BLAsh 15 and BLAsh 20 was lesser that of control mix.
Table 4.8 show the effect of curing on the concrete was revealed through density test, this implies that bamboo leaf Ash has no significance effect on the density of the concrete comparatively. This strength develop is believed to continue as long as the curing period show in Plate 3.6 is prolonged to allow hydration process to be complete. The strength value of different ages for 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% BLAsh replacement are inferior when compared to the control of 0% BLAsh replacement, the optimum compressive strength of 20.00 N/mm2 was obtained at 5% replacement at 28% of age in respect to the 20.00N/mm2 compressive from (compressive strength of concrete classes 14-35).

ABSRACT - [ Total Page(s): 1 ]ABSTRACTConcrete is a major construction material, which is usually made by mixing cement, water, fine and coarse aggregate and sometimes admixtures in their right proportions. The use of waste materials with pozzolanic properties in concrete production is a becoming a worldwide practice. The assessment of the pozzolanic activity of cement replacement materials is becoming increasingly important because of the need for more sustainable cementing products.
