2.4 GRAVEL ROAD
Gravel road are considered as unmated roads. They are actual intermediate type between earthen roads and metaled roads. The carriage way of these roads is made by compacting a mature of gravel and earth. The mature usually consist of 26% sand, 18% clay and 61% gravel which may be in the form of pit run type or crushed type. Gravel obtained from the river bed is called PIT-RUN GRAVEL and that obtain from soft stone is called crushed gravel: gravel road may be constructed from natural sand clay mixture having considerable percentage
