    •        3.   Lack of comprehensive ICT Policy: Although no secondary school can be effective without a policy which sets out aims and objectives; In Nigeria, studies have indicated a trend of secondary schools functioning without any ICT policy.

             4.   Unsteady Power Supply: Electricity supply has been a major setback against the use of ICT elements as almost all ICT elements depend on electrical power to function. According to Jimoh Kadiri (2008), it is difficult to keep high technological equipment such as computers where the electricity supply is not consistence and stable. The epileptic supply of power in our urban areas has only contributed in reducing the life span of most ICT elements militating against its usage by teachers as they are debarred from using them as a result of poor outrage.

              5.  Poor Funding: The greatest challenges facing the use of ICT element in secondary schools in Anambra state is poor funding. This is listed by various studies such as Ani, 2005; Okiy 2005; and Ash Croft and watts 2005 showing the centrality of this challenge.

Poor Funding expresses itself in areas such as poor power (alternative) supply, [poor human resource development, poor state of telecommunication etc.] Without the necessary funding, none of the other problems facing the usage of ICT elements in our secondary schools could effectively be solved.

Manri (2009) in a research work done in Nsukka urban also pointed out some challenges facing the usage of ICT elements as resistance to change / perception of teachers; inadequate school curriculum and high cost of implementation.

Having scrutinized the works of Iloanusi, Osuagwu and Manri in their findings carried out in Asaba and Nsukka respectively, this research work aim to explore the causes of these challenges and other challenges as obtainable in Awka metropolis and thereby seek effective solution to their mitigation.

      Summary of the Literature Review

From the literature review, it can be concluded that there are so many challenges facing the use of ICT elements for teaching computer science education in secondary schools; some of these factors include poor ICT knowledge, Paucity of ICT elements, Lack of ICT policies, unsteady power supply and poor funding which appeared to be the chief of all challenges as it expresses itself in all others.

Negligence of these challenges can only offer us a fallen standard of education with incompetent graduates. However it has become more often that most teachers in cases where these challenges are non-existing or less still fail to deliver adequate teaching; this study therefore seeks to establish the actual problem to these challenges.
