4.0.3 : Installing Sound CardSTEP 1: locate the PCI slots these are the slots that you can install expansion cards into. PCI slots are typically white, and you may have 1-5 of them. The slots line up with the removable panels on the back of the case.
STEP 2: Remove the existing sound card (if necessary). If you are replacing an old card, remove the old card first.
STEP 3: Secure the card with a screw. Screw a single screw into the metal tab that secures the card to the computer chassis. Don't over tighten, but ensure the card is snugly fastened to the case.
STEP 4: Connect the sound card to the CD/DVD drive (optional). Some older sound cards may connect to the CD/DVD drive with a small cable. This is optional on virtually all newer computers, as this connection is now handled by the hardware.
4.2 INSTALLATIONAlongside the existing WinPE-based windows setup (which is used for installation that are initiated by booting from DVD, USB, or network), Upgrade Assistant is offered to provide a simpler and faster process for upgrading to Linux OS from previous of windows. The program runs compatibility, check to scan the device’s hardware and software for Linux OS compatibility, and then allows the user to purchase, download, generate installation media with a DVD or USB flash drive and install Linux OS. The new installation process also allows users to transfer user data into a clean installation of Windows. A similar program, branded as Linux Setup, is used for installations where the user already has a product key.
Linux OS implements OEM Activation 3.0, which allows Microsoft to digitally OS distribute Windows licenses to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Linux OS devices store product keys directly in firmware rather than printed on a certificate of Authenticity (CoA) sticker. This new system is designed to prevent OEM product keys from being used on computers they are not licensed for allows installer to automatically detect and accept the product key in the event of re-installation.
Linux OS Update adds a new installation mode known as ‘WIMBoot’, where the WIM image that contains the windows installation is left compressed rather than being extracted, and the system is configured to use files directly from within the system image. This installation method was primarily designed to reduce the footprint of the Windows installation on devices with small amounts of storage. The system image also doubles as the recovery image, speeding up Refresh and Reset operation. It is only supported in systems with a Unified Extensive Firmware Interface (UEFI), where Windows is located on a solid-state driver or eMMC.
