    • 4.6    Start-up Guide
      The web-based human rights violation reporting system is a web-based application designed to improve the performance of the NHRC in protecting the human rights of the Nigerian citizens. It is user friendly and requires a little or no expertise to operate. The submitted cases are password controlled and requires the staff to provide their email and password before they can gain access to the information stored on the system. The complainant does not need to login before accessing the website since their activities on their system is not as confidential as the staffs. This result in having a different web address from the staff’s.
      4.6.1    Starting the Program (Staff)
      To access the web-based application, go to your JavaScript enabled web browser and type in the address of the website and click enter to proceed.
      4.6.1.1    Registration Process
      Having Started the web-based system, the staff must first register since its their first time accessing the system. The registration process involves providing all the necessary information including their departments.
      4.6.1.2    Login In
      Once registered, the staff can now login to the system using their email address and the password provided in their registration. Once logged in to the system, the staff can now have full access to view and update all the cases submitted to the system.
      4.6.2    Starting the Program (Complainant)
      To access the web-based application, go to your JavaScript enabled web browser and type in the address of the website (different from the staff web address) and click enter to proceed.
      Once entering the system, the complainant can click the report violation if he or she want to report a case, or track his or her already submitted case status, or view the violation acts to have an idea on his or her rights.
      4.7    Shortcomings of the New System
      i.    The web-based system is designed for use by the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria following the Nigeria constitutional acts which is defer from other country’s constitution, as such might not be useful in other country.
      ii.    The designed system is a web-based system that require internet, which cannot be accessed where there is no internet access.
