    • 1.2     STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The use of manual method of sales and distribution has led to inefficient or sales record keeping which has given room for sharp practices in the water sales and distribution industry.
      1.3     AIM AND OBJECTIVES
The aim of this research work is to reduce the problems faced by the organization as a result of the use of manual method.
The research work will ensure that customers are not cheated in the course of the water distribution and sales transaction.                                Below are the objectives:
      1.    To provide the water cooperation management team a means of  quick and sound decision making
      2.    To put an end to sharp practices in water distribution and sales
      3.    To maximize customers satisfaction.
      4.    To reduce stress involved in the manual method
      1.4     SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The design explains how the new system will work by showing how the software will ensure that the required task is successfully executed.
      1.5     METHODOLOGY
Before the system is to be analyzed, data about the organization must be collected and meaningfully processed. There are various ways of getting data but the adapted method was direct observation of the process of water sales and distribution in the water cooperation.
      1.6     SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This project covers the design and implementation of a proposed water sales and distribution system, using KOGI STATE WATER BOARD as a case study. The water board uses the manual method of water sales and distribution, which is time consuming, tedious and prone to a lot of errors.                                     AREAS NOT COVERED                                             The project has nothing to do with the water purification and storage process; it is not concerned with the safety of the water resources.
      1.7     ORGANIZATION OF THE PROJECT
The project is divided into five chapters, chapter one deals with general introduction, aims and objectives of the project, significance of the study, methodology, and scope of the study, area not covered and the organization of the project.
      Chapter two deals with
      1.    Historical background
      2.     Definition of terms.
Chapter three deals with analysis of the existing system and its disadvantages, description of the new system and its advantages                            Chapter four dwells on the program design (input and output), file design, implementation of the system, hardware and software requirement support, documentation and maintenance of the system.                                    Finally, the last chapter deals with the, summary, experience gained recommendation and conclusion.
