Therefore, instructional materials should be used very well to become more efficient in the handling of their subjects, thus teaching ability is enhanced. They should also be handled very well to gain the attention of the learners instructional materials encourage thinking and concentration e.g learners like to listen to radio broadcast, television broadcast and watching the cinema with rapt attention and concentration. Instructional materials afford the learners the opportunity of using their senses of learning, seeing, smelling, tasting or feeling and touching.
The Roles of Learners Opinion of Leadership Administrative Style and their Academic Performance
For centuries, attempts have been made to find out why some organizations perform better that the other Empirical evidence now suggest that a corporate success of any business enterprise depends upon the ability of the enterprise to have people (leaders) who will command the respect and obedience of the followers.
Leadership implies action and interaction with persons, sometimes things with a view to attaining specified objectives, sometimes planned in advance, sometimes at the head of moment. It is a process which involves the leader, led or followers and the situation. According to Okeke (1989) leadership could also be seen as an outcome of a man’s or woman’s capacity to sense and prescribe what a situation requires and to encourage or persuade others to perceive and pursue that prescriptions. It presupposes critical thinking and awareness of the issue of the moment. It is no exaggeration to mention that one leads when one shows others a way out of a problem crisis or when one discovers a new way of doing things in a different way. As stated by Oyedeji (1999) a leader is regarded as a prime mover of organization actions. Similarly, Ogunsaju (1990) perceived a leader as an individual in a given enterprise who direct and co-ordinates tasks relevant to a group in organizations activities. Some leaders have been asked or given the mandatory status to an authority to direct activities involving man’s interaction because of certain traits in them which are considered important to harmony and peace in the organization. The traditional view of leadership held by Adedeji (1987), Ademola and Fehintola (1984) as sited by Umaru (2001) are that leadership is the possession of certain personality traits. The combination of such traits empathy, patience, endurance, industrious, communication skills, intellectual ability, confidence, ambition, creativity, resourcefulness and charisma differentiate a leader from the followers. Leader could also be perceived as a function of inter-personal comparative in group activities in which the acclaimed leader has the responsibility of:
i. Recognize the ability and potential in each person
ii. Challenge each person to fulfill his potential and to develop his gift or talents
iii. Focus on positive not negative areas in each person
iv. Be willing to spend much time, labour and even be over-laboured with each person without giving up on him and
v. Give opportunity (delegation of power) for development and put confidence and trust in the efforts of the delegates.
The concept of leadership in education is not viewed alongside a single perspective which can be regarded as idea or generally acceptable. There are that Leadership must possess the capability to influence actions and that leader of followers along desirable goals and that leadership entails an equal distribution of powers and authorities.
More importantly too, the teachers style of management plays a prominent role in his human relation skills. The extent to which a head succeed in attaining the school objectives and fulfilling the principles included in the philosophy or mission statement depends on how skillfully suitable management style is developed and used in a scientific context. Of course, no two managers have exactly the same way of doing things, experience would become too predictable and dull if they did. However, because of the complexity of human being of leadership style opines that situations determine the style be adopted by a leader. The experience style of theory of leadership style suggest that there are two factors that make a leaders style, these are track oriented which makes leaders to direct and closely supervise subordinate. The second factor, of human-oriented had advocated leaders to motivate rather than control subordinates for higher productivities.
