Table 3 shows a calculated t-value of 5.853 0 is greater than the critical t-value of 1.74 at 0.05 level of significance for 118 degrees of freedom. Therefore, the hypothesis which states that there is no significant difference between performance appraisal in public and private secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government Area secondary schools, Oyo State is rejected, which means that a significant difference exist between performance appraisal in public and private secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government Area secondary schools, Oyo State. This study is similar to that of Adeniyi (2011) who opined that though the performance appraisal in public and private is similar but the way the appraisal is done in private cannot be compare with public school because of nonchalant attitude on the part of those involved in the performance appraisal of staff.
