Ho4: There is no significant relationship between parental roles towards education and students’ academic performance in senior secondary schools in Ilorin metropolis.
Table 8 indicated r-value of.932 was greater than the table value of 0.195 at 0.05 level of significance. Thus, the null hypotheses which stated there is no significant relationship between parental role toward education and students’ academic performance. This implies that parental role towards education and students’ academic performance. This findings is in line with Ajayi (2005) who affirmed that, parental roles towards education of a child is consistently found to be positively associated with a child’s academic performance. Specifically, children whose parents are more involved in their education have higher level of academic performance than children whose parents are involved to a lesser degree. The influence of parental involvement on academic performance success has not only been noted among researchers, but also among the policy makers who have integrated effort aimed at increasing parental participation into a broader educational policy initiatives.
