The making use of Information Technology has come to eliminate the physical stress that teachers passes through with the use of traditional method. It increases motivation access to information and interest for the learners. They have come to provide a solution to some of the problems of teaching and learning processes.
2.10 The Challenges Inhibiting the Integration of Technology in Nigeria.
There are several bottlenecks confronting information Technology (IT) in the developing world most importantly Nigeria. These challenges affect the integration of technology application in Nigeria’s educational system. Among the challenges are:
ï¶ Poor educational policy planning and implementation;
ï¶ Technological constraints
ï¶ Financial problem
ï¶ Infrastructural decays
ï¶ Human Resources constraints
ï¶ Illiteracy
ï¶ Political and institutional constraints
ï¶ Cyber crime
ï¶ Less-impact of professional Association and Organization’s obligation in Nigeria
ï¶ The place of the Information Technology (computer education) in the school curriculum
ï¶ Socio-cultural constraints
While there had been a giant attempt at integrating the new technologies into instruction in other advanced countries. Nigeria is not yet fascinated by the potential of technology to enhance teaching and learning. Many of our schools are lacking behind in integrating technology into instruction. Teachers are apprehensive about improving and modifying instruction by incorporating the new technologies. Perhaps it was the lingering apprehension that made some scholars to oppose/criticize its use in Geography and to conclude that the subject has distance itself from current changes in the society and development (Huckle, 2017).
