3.2.2.3 MIXER
The mixer circuit shown in Figure 3.5 is an amplifier that operates as a summer, basically to mix the triangular wave and the noise before entering the VCO. The output of the summer serves as input to the clamper circuit to reduce to the desired voltage required by the VCO.
3.2.2.4 THE CLAMPER CIRCUIT
Figure 3.6 shows the clamper circuit. The Clamper is a circuit where a capacitor is connected in series with a resistor and a diode. This is to bind the input of the VCO to between 0 and 3.5 V. The clamper being used is to achieve the desire voltage needed by the VCO.
The above sections when combined together form the IF section which is presented as a single circuit diagram in Figure 3.7
