ii. OXIDIZING FLAME
Oxidizing welding flame are produced hen slightly more than one volume of oxygen is mixed with one volume of acetylene. To obtained this type of flame, the flow of oxygen is then increased until the inner cone is shortened to about one tenth of it original length when the flame is properly adjusted, the inner cone is pointed and slightly purple. An oxidizing flame can also be recognized by it distinct hissing sound. The temperature of this flame is approximately 6300oF (3482oC) at the inner cone tip. The flame is hotter than the neutral carburizing flame.
Metals can be welded by moving the pipe from left to right in only formation and it is called “leftward and rightward weldingâ€. Equally metals can be welded by moving the blue pipe from right to left end in a zigzag formation and this is called “Right Ward Weldingâ€. The major difference between the two methods is that the right ward welding uses fusser gasses than the left ward welding the same type of metals with equal length as thickness. It is commonly used to weld zinc, copper, manganese steel, cast iron.
