    • Rosenman (1980) explained that after many years of competitive driving, unending quests for constantly receding goals, the Type A pattern exhibits some mannerisms and various motor actions that they often allow him I her to be identified. Rosenman and Friedman (1978 & 1986) gave the following as the outstanding motor and behavioural characteristics of Type A:
      1.    Persistent desire for recognition and advancement
      2.    Profound inclination and eagerness to compete with others.
      3.    An intense, sustained drive to achieve self-directed, but usually poorly defined goals.
      4.    Habitual propensities to accelerate the rate of execution of many physical or mental functions.
      5.    Extra-ordinary or mental and physical alertness
      6.    A firm handshake and brisk walking space
      7.    Easily provoked hostility
      8.    A general expression of vigour and energy, alertness and confidence.
      9.    Loud and/or vigorous voice
      10.    Easily irritated
      11.    Chronic sense of time urgency that leads to acceleration of thought and actions.
      12.    Continuous involvement in multiple and diverse functions constantly subject to time restrictions or deadlines
      13.    Clipped speech (i.e. failure to pronounce the ending sounds of words).
      14.     Upper thoracic respiratory movement
      15.     Explosive speech (speeches punctuated with certain words spoken emphatically and this is established as his/her general pattern) that may contain swear words.
      16.     Interrupting by frequent rapid responses given before another speaker has completed his question or statement.
      17.     Enhanced aggressive tendencies
      18.     Not easily distracted from work performance
      19.     Restlessness and tenseness of muscles and facial musculature
      20.     Frequent signing especially in relation to questions about his or her work (it is crucial to differentiate this from the sighs of a depressed person).
      21.     Use of a clenched fist or pointing his/her finger at intervals to emphasize his/her verbalizations.
      22.     Speech hurrying in the form of saying yes, yes, or mm, mm or right or by nodding his head in absent while another person speaks.
      23.     Vehement reactions to question relating to driving slowly, waiting in lines, etc.
      24.     Characteristically orderly, well organized, self-controlled and self-confident.
      25.     Frequent abrupt, emphatic and hard responses to questions e.g. never, definitely and absolutely.
The identified characteristics of Type A persons are in exhaustive (Alao, 1989).
Type B individuals have some behavioural patterns that are converse or the reverse of Type A behaviour pattern (TABP) Matthews and Glass (1981) gave a summary description of Type B as:
When Bs are exposed to uncontrollable events, they rest and, by slowing down in their efforts, they master the situation. Recall, however, that they do not believe that they are in general, incapable of entering environmental control. Instead, Bs appear to respond and periodically too, to the absence of an incentive in an uncontrollable situation. Performances on subsequent tasks is therefore, unaffected by this failure to master a previous task (p.178).

The properties are presented thus;ValidityAdewumi (1998) noted that a measuring instrument is described as valid when it measures truly and accurately the quality it is meant to measure. Validity is one of the most crucial psychometric properties of measurement and it is concerned with whether a test or scale really measures what it purports to measure. In order to ascertain the validity ... Continue reading---
