The result on table 9 indicates that the calculated F – ratio is 1.490 and less than critical F – ratio of 3.00. Therefore, hypothesis 6 which states that there is no significant difference between drug abuse and students’ academic performance is accepted because no significant difference was found.
Summary of Findings
The analysis and results of the data was presented in table one. It also shows the distribution of respondents on the basis of gender, religion, ATP, AIF, TOR and age. Table 2 shows the item by item and rank order analysis. Tables 3-8 shows the analysis of the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 alpha level of significant.
The result showed that Gender had a significant influence on see school students’ academic performance. However, religion, parents’ type of residence and age has no such influence on see school students’ perception of the influence of drug abuse on student’ academic performance.
Also from the Table 2, Item 1 (“Drug abuse can lead to poor concentration in the classâ€) ranked first (1st) with a mean score of 3.285. item 13 (“Drug abuse can lead to frequent fatigueâ€) ranked 2nd with a mean score of 3.100, while item 15 (“Drug abuse can lead to poor spelling habitâ€) and Item 20 (“Drug abuse can lead to not being able to understand examination questionâ€) ranked 19th with mean score of 2.805 respectively.
