The table above shows there was a significant association between the two groups with the experimental group having a mea value of 16.42 while the corresponding group (control group) had a mean value of 9.22 (the calculated r-value of 0.712 is greater than 0.05) this indicates that the students who taught by the teachers who attend workshops seminars (Experimental group) performed better in mathematics than their counterpart (control group) who taught by the other teachers that did not attend seminars/workshops.
Therefore, the hypothesis (Ho1) is hereby rejected which implies that regular attendance of workshops and seminars by teachers has significant impact on students academic performance in mathematics.
Ho2: Acquisition of higher certificates by mathematics teachers does not have any significance impact on student’s academic performance in mathematics. The result in the table above shows that the calculated r-value (0.864) was great than the critical r-value (0.0042) at the degree of freedom of 98 and alpha level of significance of 0.05 therefore, the hypothesis (H02) is rejected indicating that acquisition of higher certificate has significant influence on students’ performance in mathematics from the analysis the mean value (18.16) for the experimental group is greater than that of the control group thus, students taught by teachers with higher qualification performed better than their counterpart from control group (10.22).
H03: Teacher’s year of training do not have any significant impact on students’ academic performance in mathematics

ABSRACT - [ Total Page(s): 1 ]ABSTRACTThis study investigated the influence of teacher training and development programmes on students’ academic performance in Ilorin West LGA of Kwara State.Simple random sampling method was used to select twenty secondary schools used as sample for the study. Also, 200 teachers were randomly selected as respondents to the questionnaire used for the study. Three null hypotheses were generated and tested using the Pearson product moment correlation statistic to analyse the data. The res ... Continue reading---
