    • It is not out of place to state that many of them seem to be abnormal and emotionally disturbed. The greatest problem facing the researchers is how best to help the secondary school students, parents, teachers and others who work with these students, cope effectively with ever increasing environmental social exigencies associated with the moral behaviour of the students involved. The ever increasing rate of delinquency in Nigeria is becoming alarming. This may in the long run affect the standard of academic performance of these children in the area. Teachers so far have been putting serious effort in order to control the situation. Teachers are expected to deal sincerely with the problems associated with students’ behaviour as they occur. Can teachers therefore, develop an atmosphere of trust and attitude of acceptance and cultivate emphatic understanding in order to grapple with these problems. The problem of this work is the need to offer possible clues that would ultimately make for a way out of the myriad social and behaviour oriented problems as posed by family/home, school and culture of secondary school students in study area.
      2.7. Appraisal of Reviewed Literature
James, Simon and Peter (2014) investigated factors influencing unruly behaviour in which broken home and negative attitudes of teachers serve as independent variables while unruly behaviours serves as dependant variables. A total of one hundred (100) participants comprises fifty (50) males and fifty (50) females senior secondary (high) school adolescent students between the ages of 12-16 and 17-21 and a mean age of 14 and 19 respectively were selected from the population of five secondary schools in Ishiagu, Ebonyi state, South East Nigeria making use of randomisation technique. They were administered with a 20 item questionnaire in a dichotomous response style of yes or no. Survey design was adopted.
Olaitan, Deji, Ayoola and Jide (2013) carried out a research study titled “Management of disciplinary problems in secondary schools with reference to Jalingo Metropolis” aimed at investigating the types of disciplinary problems, the possible causes and means of managing them. The study use a questionnaire titled “Managing Disciplinary Problem Questionnaires” (MDPQ). Four points likert rating scale was used to collect data. One thousand (1000) respondents were sampled in four (4) government owned secondary schools in Jalingo Metropolis. The result showed tracing, absenteeism, fighting, stealing and drug addiction among others as typical examples of disciplinary problems experienced in the study area.
Idu and Njoku (2011) examined factors responsible for indiscipline among secondary school students and the need for all stakeholders in education to find solutions to the problems of indiscipline in school system. Survey research designed was employed for the study; the study population was all government secondary school students in Ogba/Egbema local government area of River State estimated to be about 3,024,200 students were used as sample using sample random, sample technique. The study was guided by four research questions. Instruments used for the study was “Student Indiscipline Questionnaires”.
Nguzi, David and Samson (2015), investigated the environmental factors influencing the moral behaviour of secondary school students in Nigeria Municipal area, Imo State Nigeria. The sample was made up of 450 secondary students sampled randomly from nine (9) public secondary schools purposively selected from the area of study. Three research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. Relevant data for testing the null hypotheses were collected through the direct delivery method administration of copies “Influence of environmental factors on moral behaviours of secondary school students” questionnaire (IEFMBSSS) on the respondents. The reliability coefficient of the instrument using pearson product moment was 0.75. Mean SD and t-test statistics were used to analyse data.
The above research works if critically examined exercise some deficiencies which must cater for the loopholes were critically considered as an attempt to bridge the wide gap, this eventually leads to the causes of unruly behaviour among the secondary school students in Oyo East Local Government of Oyo State.
