Summary of the Review of Related Literature
The study considered consequences of premarital sexual activities among secondary school students in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. It was reviewed that sex is an issue people especially the parents do not want to talk about. The parents hide facts about sex from their children. The reason why the young ones for example the adolescents and youths engage in varying premarital sexual behaviour is based partly on immoral talks and behaviour noticed among the adults (Cross, 2000).
The reason is also influence by other personality factors like, sexuality, philosophy and inhibiting situation of the mind. Other reasons discussed include prenatal negligence, moral issues and sex behaviour among others. Some factors reviewed as influencing sexual activities of students include child abuse, low parental education, less awareness of sexual changes of the body, wrong information materials.
The reviewed literature also considered negative effects of premarital sex which includes transmitting of diseases such as HIV/AIDs problem of NVF, late complications, sexual arousal disorder and sexual promiscuity. Some suggestions that could lead to possible control or its total eradication include Education or Compulsory schooling Guidance and Counselling Services, correct and adequate information and inculcating sense of discipline in the adolescents.
