    • This type of delinquent closely resembles the psychopathic personality and it is assumed that it gives rise to adult psychopathic.
      2.    Socialized: - Sub cultural delinquent – this types of delinquent do not differ in personality from non-delinquents. They have tendencies towards antisocial behaviours which are invoked by the situations they grew up in. the socialized delinquent has more normal relation with parents and so acquire parental attitude toward antisocial behaviour, neighbourhood, and peer pressures etc.
Barclay and Martin (2000) referring to cloward and Ohlin (2001), wrote that the socialized or sub-cultural delinquent is made up of three categories i.e.
      •    The criminal subculture:- This subgroup values success in crime. The delinquents in this group are capable of maintaining close interpersonal relationships, of being good parent and spouse as well as having strong loyalties to their or organization.
      •    The conflict subculture:- This group values, physical courage, ability world and violence. This group has less appetite to acquiring stolen wealth unlike the criminal subculture group presage and status in conflict subculture group go to the individual with the greatest skill and during in promoting exploits of violence.
      •    The retreats subculture:- This group is made up of drug users, they value the subjective experience of “turning on” crimes are committed primarily in the service of paying for the drug habit.
      •    Neurotic Delinquent:- The neurotic delinquent result from conflicts and anxieties may result from the effects of parental fostering child behaviours e.g. by their own behaviour the family’s encouragement to delinquency e.g. through neglect or non challant attitude. They usually remain caught up in the emotional dynamics of the family.
Their anti-social behaviours’ tend to reflect rebellion against close relations specially their parents. They frequently have compulsive dimension, such as compulsion to steal, being sexually promiscuous etc.
The common delinquent behaviours existing among students in secondary school include the following:
      1.    Smoking
      2.    Sexual promiscuity
      3.    Robbery/stealing
      4.    Truancy
      5.    Examination malpractice
      6.    Cultism
      7.    Alcoholism
      8.    Stealing
      9.    Drug abuse
      10.    Fraud
      11.    Smoking
      1.    Smoking
Smoking is a habit practical by many people all over the world. Smokers and the society are aware of the dangers associated with smoking, yet it is difficult to stop.
Intelligent guess may put the percentage of smokers in Nigeria somewhere between 20% and 30% of the population and may be most prevalent among people between the 15years and 45years age bracket (youths).
Historical, tobacco was introduced to the western world with the discovery of the American and became the treasure of the New world.
Wagner (1971), is of the opinion that of the many substances people have tried to smoke, tobacco is one of the few that has gained lasting popularity. Tobacco or Ega Cigarette smoking was introduced by the early colonial chanters to Nigeria in the 17th century – probably to cope with the cold and dull weather conditions on the high seas and labour. They combined smoking with drinking of hot like whisky, rum, brandy snaps, gin etc. the habit now spread from the colonialists to Nigerians like wide fire.
Today, in Nigeria, people smoke not only tobacco/cigarette but also other substances like marijuana sometimes called “grass” “hemp” “we we”. Marijuana comes from the leaves and flowering top of the hemp plant, (cannabis sativa) which grows in mild climates throughout the world including parts of India, Africans, Mexico, South American, USA.
Carson and Butcher (1992), said that “in Nigeria, Marijuana use was conflict largely to members of lower socioeconomic minority groups and to people in entertainment and related fields now, it is used by youths from different socioeconomic backgrounds in the society. The government allowed the substance to be advertise with the warning from the federal ministry of Health that smokers are liable to die young. Even advertisers of cigarette or tobacco products in Nigeria honestly warn their numerous customers and patronizes that “smoking is dangerous to health”. According to Flaxman (1975) in 1970, 31% of the female folks and 42% of the male folks were smokers, just like in American the situation and percentage increase daily.
