    • Uncertainty has been observed as one of the causes of anxiety, Ashaolu (2001), when one did not know what is expected, not knowing the best course of action to make, not knowing what will happen and when there is uncertainty about one’s education in studies.
The environment has been observed to elicit of the environment is perceived as threatening thus the weather, heat, can arouse anxiety. Hilgard and Alkinson (1995) observed that a noisy environment could arouse anxiety. They maintained that though noise itself does no usually create a problem but when an individual is working at a different task, such as studying for academic progress, noise can produce anxiety especially if the noise occurs at unpredictable interval. They stressed that such individual may become vigilant an edgy, become nervous, anticipating the expected noise.
Also, it has been observed that the more information people have as they prepare to face an anxiety provoking experience, the better they fee but researches have shown that for those how are very anxious; information about hat lies in store may actually increase anxiety.
Anticipating of expectations may also cause anxiety, Ashaolu (2001) stressed that anxiety arise “Whenever we are striving and hoping for better things, then are we anxious lest we fail to obtain them”. Anxiety can be cause by discrepancy between the experiencing organism and the concept of self. He maintained that anxiety occur when events perceived has having significance for the self are incompatible with the organization of self. In such cases the event are either denied or distorted to the point of acceptability. The important point is whether they are consistent with self when the experiences are inconsistent. The organism strives to satisfy needs which are denied to the conscious self. According to him, tension then exist if the individual becomes to any degree aware of this tendency of discrepancy he feels anxious, feels that he is not united or integrated and unsure of his discretion. (Ashaolu, 2001).
In general, Ashaolu (2001) listed four situations in which anxiety is likely to occur, they are:
      (i)    When there are conflicting movies.
(ii)    When there is an experience of conflict between individual behaviour and an inner standard.
(iii)    When an individual encounter some unusual event that he cannot immediately understand and adjust to
(iv)    When an individual is confronted with the loss of a beloved one. Dictionary term, htm stressed that anxiety may be cause by a that, physical stress, emotional stress, fatigue overwork and.
      Effects of Anxiety
As it has been described by (Ashaolu 2001) the experience of anxiety can be very devastating tense and painful. Due to its vagueness, anxiety is difficult to handle. People plagued by anxiety are more likely to have a lower threshold for other kinds of emotional response. He stressed that people experiencing anxiety may be irritable and quickly moved to anger and may also overreact to pleasure stimuli having a wide swing of mood and unpredictable behaviour.
Anxious people may want to isolate themselves from other and to take unusual measure to protect themselves. Behaviour expressed when experiencing anxiety is always not logical o sensible atimes.
Ashaolu (2001) expressed that anxiety state can be very incapacitating, interfering with normal process of thought like memory, problem solving, concentration and decision making.
However, though anxiety has been said to be a problem it has seen said to have positive effect. A certain degree of anxiety arousal or activation is a prerequisite to adequate everyday functioning but also maintained that too much activation can be debilitating producing severe comfort for the individual and those around him especially when anxiety high level of intensity, frequency, duration and generality.
Covey (1995) saw anxiety as a basis human characteristic that has stimulus for growth, making an individual to become increasingly aware of his freedom and making ready for personal change.

Reliability of a test is therefore, the degree or precision and consistency to which an instrument measures a construct. Oladunni (1996) described reliability as consistency of a measurement of an instrument over a period of time. A reliable instrument measures consistently a testee’s performance under varyi ... CHAPTER FOUR - [ Total Page(s): 9 ]Hypothesis ThreeThere is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety employed by students of tertiary institution in Kwara State on the basis of age. Table 10 reveals that the calculated t-value is .59 while the critical t-value is 1.96. Since the critical t-value of 1.96 is greater than the calculated t-value of .59 at 0.05 alpha level of significance the null hypothesis is accepted. Thus, there is no significance difference in the causes of academic related anxiety amon ... Continue reading---
