    • Most students in the tertiary institutions are from low socio-economic background and thereby lie from hand-to-mouth (Wright, 1980). They are looked upon by their parents as their would-be-saviors. This category of students finds it difficult to make ends meet. They struggle in getting needed materials for their studies; these include handouts, textbooks and other learning materials which are made compulsory by some lecturers in some tertiary institutions. It has been reported that some lecturers’ award marks over the sales of their textbooks and handouts and failure of any students to purchase textbooks and handout may lead to their failure in tests or examinations (Ajimati, 2001). This unhealthy behaviour of some lecturers needs to be discouraged in Nigerian institutions of higher learning. The poor economic situation of Nigeria has not really helped. Matters, especially the students progress in the school environment. It has become difficult to make both ends meet occasions; this had led them to look for ways of solving or adjusting to financial needs and coping effectively in schools. Some female students in tertiary institutions involve themselves in commercial sex-such as prostitution while their made counterparts indulge themselves in dubious acts by which they can earn money that could be used to advance their education. The school authorities in some tertiary institutions do not help matters but derive joy and satisfaction in increasing students school fees not minding those students’ that are born without solver spoons in their mouths (Abdulkareem, 1998).
Every student needs a maximum psychological adjustment. In various tertiary institutions in Nigeria, there are so much stress on the campuses that students are usually psychologically disturbed (Yahaya, 1999). For example, activities of cultists, strikes by academic and non academic staff, uninformed tests, congested time table, inadequate infrastructural facilities like accommodation and transportation are sources of psychological stress to students.
      Factors Influencing students’ performance
Learning how to focus and get something done is about more than just good grades. It is the foundation for success in life. Mastering the skills of getting organized, staying focused, and seeing work through to the end will help in just about everything the tertiary institutions students do.
      Get Organized
Organisation is the first step. It makes everything else a little easier. As a student keep your things or materials in folders that are organised by subject. Also, may be you cannot carry different spiral-binder that has separate sections. Another idea is to take notes in one notebook and at the end of each day rewrite them in a separate binder. It takes more times, but it is a great study skill because it allows student to read, write and hopefully summarized all that was important during the course study. The more you review material, the more likely you are successful in academic performance plan ahead.
When it comes to progress and work on academic success. It can feel great to be your own boss, especially if you are good one. Do not leave things to the last minute, though you will only end up working twice as hard to do half as well. Nerves and anxiety make it hard to stay focused and do a good job.
      Set cleanliness
At the beginning of each season and semester, make a calendar of due dates. Be sure of many assignments, project or term paper given to you as every semester. If the students do not understand ask, for the format it will take and set clear goals keep these assignments in mind when organized your calendar when it needs to be completed. In addition, include non academic commitments on the calendar for better performance and creating on final product. Answering those allows you to prioritized assignments by due dates, level of difficulty and completion time.

CHAPTER FOUR - [ Total Page(s): 9 ]Hypothesis ThreeThere is no significant difference in the causes of academic related anxiety employed by students of tertiary institution in Kwara State on the basis of age. Table 10 reveals that the calculated t-value is .59 while the critical t-value is 1.96. Since the critical t-value of 1.96 is greater than the calculated t-value of .59 at 0.05 alpha level of significance the null hypothesis is accepted. Thus, there is no significance difference in the causes of academic related anxiety amon ... Continue reading---
