The result in table 2 above shows that in 50 metres dash rural and urban boys’ mean scores were 7.94 and 7.86 respectively. The standard deviation 1.04 and 0.78 respectively. This implies that mean score of urban boys’ was less than that of rural boys’ mean score, therefore urban boys’ performance was better than rural boys. The data on the same Table 2 indicates that in standing broad jump rural and urban boys mean scores were 2.32 and 2.02 respectively. Their standard deviations were 0.23 and 0.12 respectively. This implied that mean score of rural boys was greater than mean score of urban boys. Therefore rural boys performed better than urban boys.
The result in the same Table 2 indicated that in 10 metres shuttle run rural and urban boys’ mean scores were
21.96 and 17.28 respectively. The standard deviations were 1.65 and 0.94 respectively. This implied that mean score of urban boys was less than mean score of rural boys. This showed that urban boys performed more better than rural boys.
Research Question 3
What are the difference in boys and girls performance in 50meters dash, standing broad jump and 10meters shuttle run? Data presented in Table 3 provided answer to the question. The result in Table 3 above indicated that mean scores of boys and girls in 50 metres dash were 13.8 and 15.98 respectively and standard deviations were 0.82 and 1.65 respectively. This showed that mean score of boys was less than mean score of girls in 50 metres dash. Thus boys performed better than girls.
The data on the same Table 3 indicated that in standing broad jump, boys and girls mean scores were 4.34 and 3.77 respectively. Their standard deviations were 1.16 and 0.09 respectively. This showed that mean score of boys was greater than that of girls. Therefore, boys performed better than girls.
The result in the same Table 3 above showed that mean scores of boys and girls in 10 metres shuttle run were 39.9 and 33.84 respectively. The standard deviations were 2.59 and 2.16 respectively. This indicated that mean score of girls was less than boys’ mean score. This implies that girls performed better than boys.
Hypothesis 1:
There is no significant difference in Mean Scores of Girls Performance in 50 metres dash, standing broad jump and 10 metres shuttle run.
This hypothesis was tested with t-test analysis at 0.05 level of significant and the results were summarized on Tables 4, 5 and 6.
