Purpose of the Study: The study focuses on the effects of information accessibility, knowledge acquisition and management on transfer system among indigenous traditional herbal medical practitioners in South West Nigeria:
i. It would enable the citizens to understand the challenges associated with information accessibility, knowledge acquisition and management on transfer system among indigenous traditional herbal medical practitioners with a view to enabling the government to devise realistic and practicable ways of overcoming such challenges. This will make the indigenous herbal medical practitioners gain more recognition.
ii. Findings from the study would assist the indigenous traditional herbal medical practitioners in preventing and curing of some sicknesses, which demand indigenous medical health care. There will be a sustainable emphasis by the governments to have local authority or even an organisation in the state to cater for the needs of indigenous traditional herbal medical practitioners in South West Nigeria. This will be of great advantage to the people of the States.
iii. Government would recognize the efforts of indigenous herbal medical practitioners and incorporate them into the plan and implementation of the health programmes of the State.
iv. Furthermore, it would enable the people to be aware of the sicknesses which orthodox medical practitioners cannot handle.
v. It would enable the librarians to store and make available to the traditional herbal medical practitioners, information that they require in the practice of their health care services.
vi. It would serve as a source of reference to future researchers.
Research Questions: The following research questions will guide the study:
1. What is the access of information on herbal medicine?
2. What are the sources of knowledge acquisition of indigenous traditional herbal medical practitioners?
3. What are the management strategies adopted by indigenous traditional herbal medical practitioners?
4. How are Knowledge acquired by indigenous traditional herbal medical practitioners transfer?
5. What are the effects of information accessibility and knowledge acquisition?
Scope of the Study: The scope of this study will cover effects of information accessibility, knowledge acquisition and knowledge management, on knowledge transfer system among indigenous traditional herbal medical practitioners in South West Nigeria. The states include;
1. Ekiti State
2. Lagos State
3. Ogun State
4. Ondo State
5. Osun State
6. Oyo State
Hypotheses: The following null hypotheses would be tested in the course of this research work.
Ho1: There is no significant relationship between information accessibility and transfer system among traditional herbal medical practitioners.
Ho2: There is no significant relationship between knowledge acquisition and transfer system among traditional herbal medical practitioners.
Ho3: There is no significant relationship between knowledge management and transfer system among traditional herbal medical practitioners.
