15 2.12 APPLICATION OF THE STUDY
The
theory explained how goal could be attained based on interaction,
perception, communication, transaction growth and development.
*
Interaction: communication between adolescent, their environment and
people around them that are goal directed could influence their choice
of career and perceptions about that particular career.
*
Perception : adolescent representation of reality, past experiences,
socio- economic background, parental or biological inheritance and
educational background could influence their choice of career.
*
Communication: information given to adolescents from people around them
about a particular career either directly or indirectly could dissuade
them in their choice of feature career.
* Transaction: purposeful
interaction that leads to goal attainment: observing the behaviors of
people around them in their environment especially nurses could make
them develop interest in that career.
* Growth and development: continuous changes in which adolescent is one of the stage of growth and development.

Career choice can also be explained by using john Holland’s theory
of vocational personalities in work environment. it states that choosing
a career or education program that fits one’s Holland personality is a
vital step toward career well-being and success, job satisfaction, good
grade and graduating on time. this theory has been used by many
profession
summary of Holland’s theory
1. In our culture, most
people are one of six personality types; Realistic, Investigative,
Artistic, Social, enterprising , and conventional. some refer to those
as Holland codes or RIASEC.
2. People of the same personality type working together create a work environment that fits their types.

There are six basic types of work environment Rialistic,
Investigative, Artistic, social, Enterprising and conventional. “workâ€
includes doing things to achieves a purpose, like paid and unpaid jobs,
volunteering, sports or hobbies.
4. People search for environments there they can use their skill and abilities and express their value and attitudes.

People who choose to work in an environment similar to their
personality type are more likely to be successful and satisfied.
6. How you act and feel at work depends to a large extent on your work place (or school) environment.
Choosing
work or an education program that matches, or is similar to once
personality, will most matches, or your work place (or school)
environment matches, or is similar to once personality, will most likely
lead to success and satisfaction. This good match is called “congruentâ€
(meaning compatible, in Agreement or Hormony).
