Table 4.6 shows that the four indices of physical learning environment (physical space, equipment, health, safety and beauty) jointly have positive relationship with the pupils’ performance (R = .902). The coefficient of determinant indicates that the four indices of physical learning environment jointly contributed 81.3% of the total variance in the dependent variable, that is, pupils’ performance (Adjusted R2 x 100 = 81.3). This joint contribution of the indices of physical learning environment also found to be significant on the pupils’ performance (F(4,5) = .427; p<0.05). This result is an indication that the four indices of physical learning environment are good predictors of pupils’ learning environment.
Research Question 3: What is the relative contributions of indices of physical environment (physical space, equipment, health and safety and beauty) to pupils’ performance?
Table 4.7 shows the relative contribution of the independent variables (physical space, equipment/material, health and safety, beauty/colour) to the dependent variable (pupils’ performance). The table shows that equipment/material has the highest significant contribution to the pupils’ performance (β = .981; t = 3.567; p<0.05). The others that followed equipment/materials with non-significant contribution are health and safety (β = .-186; t = .-723; p>0.05) and physical space (β = .074; t = .290; p>0.05). Beauty/colour (β = .058; t = .224; p>0.05) had the least non-significant contribution to the pupils’ performance.
